The next semi-annual convention of our partner ICARUS – International Centre for Archival Research will take place in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 5-7 June 2024. Hosted by the Archives of Vojvodina and the Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad, the topic of the conference will be “Archives and Research – Between the Analog and the Digital” and the programme and registration link is online now.
Convention Programme:
In addition to presentations covering the main conference topics of “Minority Communities in Europe – Archival Materials and Other Sources” and “Archives and Societies – An Analog Archivist in a Digital World”, there will also be a session on Topotheque, introducing activities from partners in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a workshop focussing on charters and Monasterium.
A special session concentrating on case studies on “Conservation and Restoration of Paper and Parchment” from Serbia and Hungary will be held in parallel to the main conference on June 6th. Note: this dedicated workshop will be held in Serbian and Hungarian language, with simultaneous interpretation into Hungarian respectively Serbian.
The programme also includes:
- Sportive event: the traditional soccer match will take place in the evening of Wednesday, June 5th.
- Culinary feasts: reception at the Archives of Vojvodina (Wednesday); Joint dinner with a view, at restaurant Karlo on the Petrovaradin Fortress (on own expenses, Thursday)
- Guided tours: visit of the City Museum of Novi Sad and the Military Tunnels at the Petrovaradin Fortress (Thursday); Guided city tour through Novi Sad and visit of the Museum of Vojvodina (Friday)
- Themed exhibition and book presentation by Ms Svetlana Liubljanac (Friday), presenting her research publication on archival material of the advocate chamber of Vojvodina (between 1875-1975)
As always, participation in the ICARUS Convention is free of charge (exception: joint dinner on Thursday) and the team is looking forward to seeing you in Novi Sad at the beginning of June!
