On 14 and 15 October 2021, the Zollverein Foundation and the German Commission for UNESCO will host the international congress “Industrial World Heritage. Opportunity and Responsibility” in Essen (DE).
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this hybrid event, will take place both on-site in Essen and in the form of online formats. Its aim is to initiate an international discourse about the future prospects of industrial world heritage. Besides the question of sustainable conservation of historical industrial sites and new usage concepts, the panels will focus on issues of resilience and sustainability, international networks, digitalisation and touristic marketing.
