The conference will discuss various activities with regard to networking, digitization and protection of written heritage as well as current archival projects and programmes across Europe, such as Creative European Archives (CREARCH), European Digital Treasures. Furthermore, international digital platforms for cultural heritage such as the Topotheque, Mapire – the Historical Map Portal, the Archives Portal Europe and many others will be presented.
The conference programme puts a special focus on current issues emerging from the archival and heritage preserving community emphasising IT topics as well as information on, presentation and interpretation of historical sources and their application in the digital world. Within this context the topics of open access to GLAM institutions, Time Machine activities, DARIAH topics and interdisciplinary projects such as Rijeka in Flux, Frankostrukcija and Znameniti.hr will be discussed.
Keynote Time Machine and Local Time Machines
Our Austrian Time Machine Ambassador Thomas Aigner (Vice president Time Machine Organisation and President ICARUS) will give a keynote on “Time Machine – Big Data of the Past” on 25 March.
On 27 March the conference session “On the Way to Time Machine” our Hungarian Time Machine Ambassador Ágnes Telek (Budapest City Archives) will present the vision of the Budapest Time Machine. Peer Boselie (Erfgoedcentrum De Domijnen, city and region archivist of Sittard-Geleen, NL) will share first results of the Limburg Time Machine. Furthermore, the Dubrovnik Time Machine and further research activities related to Time Machine will be presented in this session.
