We are thrilled to announce that our partner the Topotheque recently – on 9 November 2021 to be exact – uploaded its 1,000,000th object documenting local history: The “Heimatschein” from the Lower Austrian municipality “Weinviertel”. A “Heimatschein” was used as proof of right of domicile until replaced by proof of citizenship in 1939.
It is thanks to the busy and dedicated work of volunteers that this international network of local Topotheques keeps on growing steadily, preserving local history based on private photo, video and document collections.
